Save old growth near Tsitika Mountain

An old growth forest, cutblock TA1375, near Tsitika Mountain, has just been sold for logging by BC Timber Sales (BCTS).

In 2023, the province quietly walked back its decision on deferrals (emergency logging bans) for new BCTS sales, which put integral ecosystems like TA1375 back on the market to be logged. Despite clear recommendations to protect these forests immediately, the government has yet to follow through, and now we face losing even more old growth on the island.

Scientists, environmental groups, and grassroots organizers have been raising the alarm to protect TA1375, and we need the public to add their voices to pull back this sale and protect the remaining old growth.

Send an email to your MLA, BCTS, and the B.C. government, urging them to pull back the sale of cutblock TA1375 and stop BCTS sales in deferral areas at large.
