A growing number of communities across Canada and the U.S are demanding big polluters pay their share of climate costs – and Coquitlam council could be making a decision soon!
The city is on the frontlines of the climate crisis – from extreme heat and wildfire smoke to flooding, landslides and drought. Just last year, two members of the community lost their lives in devastating landslides, a tragic reminder that these climate-driven disasters are not distant threats, but real and growing dangers. These events are becoming more frequent and severe, taking a significant toll on Coquitlam’s infrastructure, public health, and budget.
If the city pledges its support for the proposed lawsuit, it would be the 12th B.C. community to do so, joining their neighbours in Burnaby.
In just a short period of time, 11communities across B.C. have already committed to making big polluters pay via a class action lawsuit – it’s time for Coquitlam to join them.
Will you send an email to the Coquitlam Mayor and Council now telling them to pledge their support for Sue Big Oil?
