Richmond residents: It’s time for big polluters to pay their fair share

Forest on fire at night with big bright red and orange flames, and smoke

A growing number of communities across Canada and the U.S are demanding big polluters pay their share of climate costs – and Richmond council could be joining them soon!

Our city is on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Rising sea levels and flooding aren’t just future risks – they’re already threatening homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. A single major flood could cost the city billions, leaving local families and small businesses on the hook for the climate costs.

If Richmond pledges its support for the proposed lawsuit, it would be the 12th B.C. community to do so, joining its neighbours in Burnaby.

In just a short period of time, 11 communities across B.C. have already committed to making big polluters pay via a class action lawsuit – it’s time for Richmond to join them.

Will you send an email to the Richmond Mayor and Council now telling them to pledge their support for the Sue Big Oil campaign?
