AI data centers must run around the clock on renewable energy

It seems like AI is everywhere these days, whether we like it or not. All that AI means lots of data centers, and those data centers require ever increasing amounts of electricity to keep running.

Which means tech companies have a choice. Do they:

a.) rely on dirty fossil fuels and fossil fuel infrastructure, worsening the climate crisis and poisoning local communities?

b.) invest in cheaper and cleaner renewable energy options in order to help bring about a just transition to a renewable energy economy?

We’re working to ensure tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon make the right decision for communities and the climate – and we need your help.

The growth of the AI sector cannot come at the expense of healthy communities and a stable climate. We, the undersigned, demand that, as a start, your company commits to ensuring that any new AI data centers run on local, 24/7, additional renewable energy that all existing data centers transition to the same standard no later than 2030.
