Help protect endangered caribou in British Columbia

In recent years, some southern mountain caribou herds have been driven locally extinct – dying out and disappearing across their historic ranges. This extinction crisis is being driven by activity like mining and logging, and the southernmost herds are in the most precarious position.

Government after government has failed to take action for these caribou. The B.C. NDP government has made some important promises that could help this species, but it has backtracked in recent years. Working with First Nations title holders is essential to chart a pathway forward – and that path must prevent new logging in critical caribou habitat.

These caribou need urgent action to prevent extinction. To give them the best chance at survival, Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar must stop approving old growth logging in caribou habitat. Add your name now.

It's time to implement real protections for southern mountain caribou, and you can do that by putting old growth and primary forests in their habitat off limits to logging. Caribou need old growth for their survival. These forests are rich ecosystems that are home to old tree stands and rich, abundant food sources that these caribou need. When these forests fall, caribou disappear. You could leave a lasting legacy and protect an iconic B.C. species. Don’t wait, we’re running out of time.
