Tell Lawmakers: NY needs the Clean Deliveries Act

trucks in traffic

New York State is seeing a growing number of mega-warehouses, including buildings that are a million square feet and larger. The warehouses require hundreds, sometimes thousands, of vehicle trips per day.

The trucks emit pollution that has big climate impacts and also contributes to poor air quality and negative health effects for workers and surrounding communities. A recent report shows that a quarter of people in New York live within half a mile of a mega-warehouse, with people of color and low income people disproportionately affected.1 Emissions from the warehouse truck traffic are not regulated.

This isn’t safe and it isn’t fair.

The Clean Deliveries Act will protect workers, communities, and the climate by requiring all e-commerce warehouses larger than 50,000 square feet to calculate and lower their emissions. There will be several measures to address the pollution, including additional protections for schools and vulnerable communities.

SAFE Cities at Stand.earth is working with Earthjustice and Tri-State Transportation Campaign to get the Clean Deliveries Act passed. SAFE Cities has worked with advocates and government leaders to pass and implement many local and state policies that protect people’s health and the climate from fossil fuels. With help from people like you, New York State will have a critical way to manage warehouse emissions and lessen the burden on workers, communities, and the planet.
