Gas stations pose many risks to communities. They vent toxic fumes and they can cause soil and water pollution. They also vent toxic fumes. Communities of color and low income people in the U.S. are more likely to live near gas stations, so they bear more of these impacts.
Yet the applications keep coming in for more stations in Antioch.
Instead of building more gas stations, Antioch should be helping current station owners adapt to the changes in how we get around. This won’t only protect our community, but it will help gas station owners and the city financially as California moves toward an all-electric future.
Send your message to the City Council now demanding an end to new gas stations and any expansion plans.
