Santander must stop financing destructive oil and gas projects in Amazonia.

Santander Bank, a leading financier of oil and gas projects in Amazonia, is contributing to the destruction of one of the planet's most vital ecosystems. Despite its commitments to environmental sustainability, Santander has provided $1 billion to PetroPeru, facilitating a significant expansion of the Talara refinery.

This expansion not only contradicts Santander's policies against financing projects in protected areas but also increases the demand for oil extraction in the heart of Amazonia, threatening the biodiversity and Indigenous communities that call it home.

By financing oil and gas in Amazonia, Santander is in league with the world's largest fossil fuel banks, contributing to environmental destruction, Indigenous rights violations, and the exacerbation of the climate crisis. Santander needs to honour its environmental commitments and lead the banking industry toward a more sustainable and ethical future.

Add your name today to send a powerful message to Santander: the public will not stand for corporate practices that prioritize profits over the planet's health and Indigenous peoples' rights.

Let's stand united for Amazonia, our planet, and future generations.
