Heatwaves and air pollution are a deadly combo that Vietnamese people and people across Southeast Asia are increasingly struggling with. And the fashion industry and lululemon are huge contributors to this climate chaos gripping Vietnam, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and other hub manufacturing countries.
In lululemon’s 2022 impact report, it reported a 24% emissions increase in its supply chain despite claiming “Be Well. Be Human. Be Planet,” in its brand slogan.
As part of an industry that is responsible for up to 8% of global emissions, lululemon and other brands’ constant push to increase production is driving Vietnam and other Asian countries' dependence on dangerous fossil fuels like coal.
lululemon cannot claim to be a sustainability leader but continue to trap communities in Southeast Asia in smog and toxic air pollution.
Send a message to lululemon’s CEO, Calvin McDonald, now to urge him to be part of the solution and phase out coal from its manufacturing and curb its ballooning emissions. It takes just a few minutes, but a personal note is one of the most effective ways of pushing companies to take climate action.
