This facility was built without Free, Prior, and Informed Consent of nearby Indigenous and impacted communities. It also had a massive explosion just last year — injuring several people and releasing toxic emissions into the air.
Now the same insurers who backed the Trans Mountain pipeline are enabling the ongoing operation of the dangerous Freeport LNG facility. But if we can ramp up the pressure right now while Freeport is seeking to renew its insurance for next year, we could push companies to cut ties with Freeport LNG before it’s too late. We must stop LNG expansion in its tracks. Without financing or insurance, these projects can’t go ahead.
