Call on banks to stop fueling Amazon destruction

Since 2016, banks have directly financed over $15 billion to Amazon oil and gas industry, with just 10 banks accounting for almost 75% of the direct financing.

But here's the silver lining: Banks have the power to stop this by implementing an exclusion zone policy, which helps stop oil and gas activity in the rainforest. It’s been five years since Stand’s Exit Amazon Oil and Gas initiative began and we’ve already seen wins. 10 banks have introduced Amazon exclusion policies for oil and gas financing, and we believe we can get the other banks to follow suit.

We got the numbers, we got the data, now we need a groundswell of pressure on banks to exit Amazon oil and gas. Will you add your name and urge banks to stop capitalizing on the collapse of Amazonia?

I'm signing on to this petition in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples of Amazonia and their call to protect Amazonia urgently and stop all Amazon oil and gas expansion in the region. This vital region is key for a climate-safe future, keeping in line with the 1.5C goal, and for the greater planetery health. I urge the banks who are financing Amazon oil and gas projects to exit Amazon oil and gas.
