Protect the magical kelp forests of the Great Bear and Salish Seas

Carnival ship in Juneau, Alaska

Cruise ship season has officially begun in British Columbia, and with it comes a torrent of raw sewage and fossil fuel wastewater that threatens to devastate the majestic kelp forests of the Great Bear and Salish Seas. These underwater forests are home to endangered sea otters and the remaining 73 critically endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales

Canada’s shipping laws are allowing for aquatic clearcutting, which is accelerating habitat destruction for these critically endangered species through ocean dumping and the destruction of this critical marine ecosystem.

We must do something to prevent this destruction. We call on Minister Alghabra to make regulations that will protect the ocean and its ecosystems. We urge you to join us in this fight – email your MP to raise the alarm and demand action.

Your voice is essential in this cause. Together, we can make a difference.

Tell Transport Canada that we will no longer accept their inaction.
