Tell the Squamish City Council to stop Woodfibre LNG

Woodfibre LNG is a proposed Liquefied ‘Natural’ Gas (LNG – aka fracked gas) export project being pushed through in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), B.C.

If built, this disastrous project would:

  • Increase fracking on Treaty 8 territory in northeastern B.C.;
  • Lock in harmful climate pollution (LNG being made up of methane, which is 86 times worse for the climate than CO2);
  • Put local residents at risk of serious injuries if an accident were to happen;
  • Threaten herring, endangered salmon and southern resident orcas in Átl’ḵa7tsem (Howe Sound);
  • Lead to an increased threat of gender-based violence linked to the proposed work camp nearby Quest University

Squamish City Council still has the power to stop the project in its tracks, and the upcoming municipal election is a key moment to put this issue on the radar. Council candidates need to hear from local residents like you that they must take a stand against Woodfibre LNG if they’re going to earn your vote.

Will you take a moment to send a quick email to Squamish City Council candidates and ask them to do everything in their power to stop Woodfibre LNG and its associated fracked gas pipelines?
