Sign now: Stop Woodfibre LNG

Woodfibre LNG is a proposed Liquefied ‘Natural’ Gas (LNG – aka fracked gas) export project being pushed through in Squamish/Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, B.C.

If built, this disastrous project would:

  • Increase fracking in Treaty 8 territory in northeastern B.C.;
  • Lock in harmful climate pollution (LNG being made up of methane, which 86 times worse for the climate than CO2);
  • Put local residents at risk of serious injuries if an accident were to happen;
  • Threaten herring, endangered salmon and southern resident orcas in Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound.

Woodfibre is also already moving ahead with plans to build a work camp right in Squamish. The National Inquiry into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls has highlighted the concerning link between work camps like this one and violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA people.

The good news is, it’s still not too late to stop Woodfibre from ever getting built. But only if we act fast.

Add your name to the petition to pressure the provincial government and the Squamish City Council to stop the Woodfibre LNG project and its associated fracked gas pipelines and tankers.
