Tell e-commerce giants: no more dirty deliveries!

Companies like Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and DHL are making dirty deliveries that are causing air pollution, congestion, and fueling climate change. Transport will be the biggest source of new greenhouse gas emissions in the next couple of decades – and delivery companies are a huge part of the problem.

The pandemic has increased our reliance on at home deliveries more than ever before, and we need the companies we’re counting on to clean up our streets, stat. As e-commerce grows, this is our chance to ensure that delivery methods put people first.

Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and DHL are all failing to set ambitious targets to electrify their delivery vehicles. We need to send a powerful message that a transition to 100% zero emissions fleets by 2030 is non-negotiable.

As some of the world’s largest delivery companies, Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and DHL can count on sustained growth as e-commerce continues to expand. That growth comes with a responsibility to not wreak havoc on community health and the climate.

We have to multiply the speed of decarbonisation of the worlds’ vehicle fleet by 22 times to avoid the worst of the climate crisis. Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and DHL need to stop running on fossil fuels now.

Amazon, Walmart, UPS, FedEx, and DHL must:

Work with urgency towards making 100% of their fleets Zero Emissions by 2030.
Immediately cease the procurement of any fossil - fuel powered delivery vehicles.
Immediately supply (and then on a yearly basis) clear and comparable data on greenhouse gas emissions, the measures taken to address environmental impacts, and the monitoring of the impact of these measures.
