Tell RBC executives to stop financing the Coastal GasLink pipeline

Chalk image saying "RBC stop funding fossil fuels"

Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chiefs have resisted the construction of a fracked gas pipeline across their territory since it was first proposed a decade ago. The Coastal GasLink pipeline would allow the expansion of fracked gas production – even as the climate crisis worsens.

The Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Chief's are recognized by Canada's Supreme Court as having rights on their land that must be upheld, but their clear and consistent opposition to this project has been ignored. Even worse, heavily militarized RCMP officers with machine guns and sniper rifles have violently arrested land defenders, elders, and journalists – and the violence continues today. Without RBC, Coastal GasLink could not bulldoze through Wet'swuet'en land without consent.

This conflict is being directly fuelled by Bay Street banks like RBC. This year, we’re mobilizing shareholders to prove that continuing to invest in fossil fuels is not only bad for the planet, but bad for RBC’s bottom line.

It's time for RBC to walk the talk  to truly take meaningful climate action, advance Indigenous reconciliation and be a real corporate leader. That means stopping funding the expansion of fossil fuels, the Coastal GasLink pipeline, and reinvesting in a climate-safe economy and just transition for oil and gas workers and communities.

Will you tell RBC to listen to its shareholders and respect Indigenous rights by divesting from all fossil fuels?

Tell RBC's executives:
respect Indigenous rights and cancel Coastal GasLink
