RBC is the biggest financier of fossil fuel companies in Canada -- the very companies that are most responsible for worsening the climate emergency and the extreme weather events we are witnessing across Canada.

And yet, RBC is continuing to sink more and more money into dangerous coal, oil and gas companies. It’s as if the unprecedented heat dome and the hundreds of out-of-control wildfires across Canada aren’t a sufficient reminder of the need to act now.

Every fossil fuel project starts with funding and RBC is one of the biggest fossil fuel lenders out there. In fact, since the 2016 Paris Agreement was signed, your bank has poured over $208 billion into oil, gas, and even coal companies. This is at a time when the International Energy Agency, the globally recognized leader in energy systems modelling, has made it clear that there is no longer any need to invest in or construct new fossil fuel supply projects.
