Stop ship dumping off the coast

sewage in the ocean

Exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers) ”wash” ship exhaust plumes with seawater, turning air pollution into acidic thermal carcinogenic wastewater.

Over 5 million tons of this wastewater was dumped in Vancouver, mainly from cruise ships – making this Canadian port the #4 most dumped upon port globally.

It’s time we take real action to ban scrubbers. We’re calling on the Victoria City Council to pass a resolution calling on Transport Canada to take action on dumping from vessels, including stopping the use of scrubbers and mandating the fuel standard without the scrubber workaround.

Will you use our easy email tool to send a message to the Victoria City Council with your support to pass this resolution and take a crucial step to ban scrubbers?
