The Liberal government is about to unveil what they’re calling the most significant budget of our lifetime.
This is a make-or-break opportunity to hold the government accountable to its promises on climate action, and ensure this spending allows us to rebuild a more just society that is better for our health, the economy, and nature.
To shape the Canada that we want to see, the 2021 budget must:
- End fossil fuel subsidies and shift spending to a green and just recovery.
- Deliver a strong climate law, ambitious targets, and policies that centre climate justice.
- Protect 25% of land and ocean by 2025 and support Indigenous-led conservation.
- Expand and leverage nature-based climate solutions.
Send a letter to key decision-makers now to let them know that you demand a green and just recovery.
Your letter will be sent to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet, Conservative party leader Erin O’Toole, Green Party leader Annamie Paul, the Environment and Finance critics for all opposition parties, and all three elected members of the Green Party.
Stand.earth is taking part in this action as part of the One Earth One Voice campaign – a coalition of environmental groups and their members across Canada jointly pushing the federal government to prioritize a green and just recovery.
