West Vancouver, British Columbia is among the first in the world taking action to address both the global climate crisis and the neighborhood impacts of fossil fuels – and your local government needs to hear that you want them to do more so they will be protecting your community at the scale and urgency this moment requires.
It’s time to ask them to step up their leadership.
Will you send a message to local lawmakers asking them to pass concrete policies blocking new fossil fuel infrastructure to keep your community and the global climate safe from fossil fuel expansion?
Now that West Vancouver has passed the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, it will be easier to pass these local government policies to block the build-out of new fossil fuel infrastructure, speed up the clean energy transition, and create good-long-term jobs.
West Vancouver is already recognized on our interactive map, so you may know that these policies – which we call SAFE policies – can range from mandating all-electric new buildings to saying no to new fossil fuel extraction, storage, refining or export facilities, to exploring ways to transform the local bus fleet to 100% electric vehicles, to banning new gas stations. Each different SAFE policy that passes gets your community a new or upgraded badge and a safer, healthier, more equitable world.
Keep your local elected officials focused on the local and global action that is needed by encouraging them to pass concrete policies. Send your local government officials a message today!
