Vancouver, B.C. is among the first in the world taking action to address both the global climate crisis and the neighborhood impacts of fossil fuels – and your local government needs to hear that you want them to do more so they will be protecting your community at the scale and urgency this moment requires.
It’s time to ask them to step up their leadership.
Will you send a message to local lawmakers asking them to pass more concrete policies that keep your community and the global climate safe from fossil fuel expansion?
Vancouver is already recognized on our interactive map for endorsing the call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and for passing specific policies to phase out fossil fuels, so you may know that these policies – which we call SAFE policies – can range from mandating all-electric new buildings to saying no to new fossil fuel extraction, storage, refining or export facilities, to exploring ways to transform the local bus fleet to 100% electric vehicles, to banning new gas stations. Each different SAFE policy that passes gets your community a new or upgraded badge and a safer, healthier, more equitable world.
We need local leaders to stay focused on protecting their community and the climate by enacting more SAFE policies. Send your local government officials a message today!
Not from Vancouver, B.C. but want to work on passing SAFE policies in your own community? Head to the map to see if there is already a SAFE group near you or sign up here to stay in the loop about opportunities to take action.
