Gas-powered buildings are a bad idea: for our health, our air, and the climate. When we hook up buildings to fossil gas, we put our public health at risk and we fail to take necessary climate action.
Burning gas in buildings is the #1 source of climate pollution in Bellingham. To tackle the climate crisis, we must build without fossil fuels.
Bellingham can be a real climate leader, for Washington state and the nation. We know we have a real chance to pass this policy before the end of the year and create a livable future for our communities – but only if the Mayor and Council makes it a priority.
It’s time to build for the clean energy future...not the fossil-fueled past.
Let’s make Bellingham the first city in Washington, and one of the first in the nation, to build all-electric new buildings.
Add your name and we’ll send a powerful message to Bellingham’s leaders: pass local policy in 2020 to require new buildings to be electric, safe, and climate-friendly.
