Right now, the community of Brentwood in the San Francisco Bay Area is mounting a courageous fight against an oil company that’s trying to sneak through a drilling project. The project, which would put oil wells just 1,100 feet from people’s homes and within a 2 mile radius of 11 schools, quietly requested a permit while folks were distracted just trying to survive the COVID-19 crisis. Thanks to public pressure, the deadline to submit comments has been extended – which means it’s not too late to stop this proposal.
With enough pressure, we can push local officials to delay or outright deny the oil company’s plan.
