Take a stand for old-growth forests

A forest

The last giants are falling in British Columbia. Old growth forests, home to tall, ancient trees, are still being commercially logged. These endangered forests are at a tipping point: we must act now to ensure they stay standing.

The provincial government has received recommendations from an independent review panel as part of an old growth review process, but it will take months for those to be made public, and it could take years to enact laws to protect the disappearing giants. And in the meantime, the equivalent of 34 soccer fields per day of original rainforest is being logged on Vancouver Island alone.

At this rate, many of the towering giants that we value so deeply will be gone forever by the time the BC government takes action to protect old growth forests. But there is a way forward – the BC government could honour the process and declare an emergency moratorium on logging of endangered old growth while it’s ongoing.

Send a message to decision-makers calling on British Columbia to implement an emergency moratorium on logging of endangered old growth forests.
