A new report by the World Wildlife Fund has revealed that 1.5 billion litres of greywater was likely dumped off BC’s coast in 2017. That’s the equivalent of more than 600 Olympic-size swimming pools.
Grey water dumping can lead to dead zones for marine life, and can even suffocate fish whose gills get coated with the oil and grease it often contains. There is currently insufficient regulation around dumping off Canada’s coast. To keep our oceans safe and healthy, urgent action is needed.
Write to Minister Bernadette Jordan now and help put this issue at the top of her agenda.
