Justin Trudeau and his Cabinet are about to make their first major climate decision since being re-elected: whether or not to approve the largest tar sands mine ever proposed.
Going ahead with the Frontier Mine, owned by Vancouver-based company Teck, would cause irreversible impacts on the environment.
Nearly double the size of the City of Vancouver, Teck’s mega-mine would release a shocking amount of carbon pollution, (more than putting 1.2 million cars on the road), making it impossible to meet our international climate commitments. Teck would destroy old-growth forests, critical fish habitat, and lead to the permanent loss of 14,000 hectares of wetlands.
