Protect Vancouver's climate progress on buildings

For decades, Vancouver has been recognized as a leader in climate action and green buildings. That's why it was so disappointing when City Council – despite massive public backlash – recently voted to weaken key climate policies and bring methane gas back into new buildings. We’re already seeing this rollback embolden fossil fuel lobbyists and undermine efforts by other municipalities working to reduce pollution and build cleaner, healthier homes.
Climate progress cannot depend on the politics of a single city hall. If we want lasting progress, senior governments must step up and provide clear, consistent leadership. And both the British Columbia and the federal government have the policy tools to do this and provide the climate-safe and affordable housing we need.
